Professor Okwuashi Alexander Favor was born in Burutu, Delta State, to the family of the late Ogbunyi Raphael Ogbolu and Mrs. Omakwu Beatrice Okwuashi. He began his formal education at Ila Mixed Grammar School and obtained his initial higher education qualification from the Institute of Education, University of Benin (1981–1984), before completing his NYSC service in Niger State.
A pioneer in maritime and industrial administration, Prof. Okwuashi held key corporate roles including Commercial Manager at Global Shipping Lines, Managing Director of Delta Ocean Lines & Marine Services, and Dean of the CISN/LAUTECH Sandwich Program. He holds an MBA from Delta State University, an M.Sc. in Transport Management from LAUTECH, as well as B.Eng., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees in Marine Engineering, Transport, and Logistics from CRUTECH.
He served as the Executive Chairman of Oshimili North LGA (2003–2004) and was conferred with a Professorship in Maritime Administration by the University of Technology America in 2012. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Shipping, Institute of Security of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Local Government & Public Administration, and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE).
As the vision-bearer and founder of both the Certified Institute of Shipping of Nigeria and Coastal Polytechnic, Lagos, Professor Okwuashi’s four decades of dedicated service, academic mentorship, and industrial leadership continue to shape maritime education and vocational training across Nigeria.
